TEAM BUILDING AND DEVELOPMENT COURSES

OVERVIEW

Whatever your line of business, effective teamwork is essential for its success in the long term. Today's business world is a fast moving and constantly changing environment, but it is essentially about people and how they work together.

Team building and team maintenance provide a vital function within any organisation to ensure it remains healthy, focused and motivated. This is a well-proven' process with many potential benefits to both the business and individuals.

The outdoors provides a pleasant, stimulating and healthy environment in which to deliver training. It is an established medium where practical and creative training methods can be applied in a variety of challenging situations.

COURSE DESIGN

We do not believe that an off the shelf package can be the answer to your needs. All our courses are individually tailored to meet your business requirements and those of the individuals attending.

We visit you in advance without obligation to get a clear definition of your aims and objectives for the particular groups in question. Following consultation, we present a package designed to meet your business requirements and budge constraints.

We formulate a mix of tasks and activities from our extensive database coupled with comprehensive review sessions to bring out the key learning points. All tasks and review sessions are approached with a link to the work environment and how these key points can be adopted by the teams back in the workplace after the course has finished.

 

KEY POINTS

We are particularly sensitive to an individual’s aspirations and fears when attending this type of event. We are very strong on safety and participants will not be pushed to the limit or asked to do tasks that will put them under physical stress or danger.

All participants will however be challenged mentally and their ability to think on their feet and working together with colleagues will be tested to the maximum.

We shall be observing throughout:

  • The ability to work as part of a team, assessing an individual's ability to work with others in a team and an individual's effect on a team.
  • Linking all learning with the work environment.
  • Identifying ways in which effective teams can be developed.
  • Analysis of individual, and team performance.
  • Discussion groups about improvement and implementation.
  • Investigate inter-team relationships

Develop positive strategies for improving weaker areas of performance. The emphasis will be on relevant learning and individual enjoyment.
By the time the groups leave the course they should have a good grasp of:-

  • Working towards a common goal
  • How to work together better and smarter
  • Tolerate the views of others
  • Listen in discussions
  • Be able to give and accept constructive criticism
  • Make group decisions
  • Accept team decisions
  • Know and understand the fundamentals of working together with others

VENUES

Our venues are wide and varied and range from country houses in the Lake District to barn accommodation in the Yorkshire Dales. It’s all dependent on the experience you want. It's all about striking a balance between comfort, fun, environment, cost and learning opportunity. We can offer a full package from a single day to multi-day courses around the U.K. We will work with you to ensure you get the experience you want.

WHY ARE WE DIFFERENT ?

Teamwork and team building have become well worn and over used terms in the training arena over the last few years. They have often become (or are seen to be) a business 'jolly' and provide no real benefit to the business or individual other than having a fun time at the expense of the business. The outdoor pursuit’s aspect of these courses has also come under criticism as having no relevance to the business environment. This is extremely disappointing. The benefits of the outdoor environment combined, with suitably creative, practical tasks and activities and appropriate delivery methods encompasses all the aspects of experiential learning.

This is holistic learning in the true sense of the word.

Individuals can perform and develop their skills in a new environment free from the normal constraints of work. They can concentrate on the process of learning and working together, and not performing with the fear of mistakes.

We do not adopt the methods of sports coaching and motivation as they are not relevant to industry or a service environment. Neither are we there to teach the skills of outdoor pursuits although we may use the medium in context to assist learning or provide a fun element to an activity.

Our emphasis is firmly on training for work.
